Form

We are learning to hear music in binary and ternary form.

The food image on the left has two ingredients:

1. Bread

2. Jam

If music had two different melodies in one song:

1. Section A

2. Section B

We call this BINARY Form.

Form in music means the structure or architecture of the music.

The food image on the left has two elements but the first element is repeated again:

1. Bread

2. Filling (chicken, lettuce and tomato...)

3. Bread

If music had two different melodies in one song and the first melody was repeated again:

1. Section A

2. Section B

3. Section A

We call this TERNARY Form.
